Grumble Party is a place for you, dear grammar grumblers, to talk about what grammar and other language-related errors really irritate you. Is it irregardless or there/their/they’re? Whatever it is, you can vent all you want here. But if you need a shoulder to cry on, that’s a different story.
Grumble away!
So, what’s your grammar grumble?
I can’t stand people who use the word disinterested when they mean uninterested. Even newsreaders do it sometimes. It makes me want to put my foot through the television. Does this make me a bad person?
No. It just makes you a member of the grammar grumbler club. We’re an elite group.
I know a person who uses the term “jokatively” on a regular basis – in place of where one would otherwise use “jokingly”. I haven’t had the heard to tell them that I don’t think that is a word… So I always let the person use it and cringe on the inside.
I’ve never heard that one before. Thanks for sharing.
